Harley Charles Stumm, The Southport School, 1927-1931

Harley Charles Stumm was a Sportsman, Scholar, Barrister, and Airman. In 1935 he successfully applied for a Rhodes Scholarship and studied law.

He joined the R.A.F. in 1940 and served in India, Burma, Singapore, Java and Sumatra before he was killed in an air crash in India in 1944.  He was a Wing Commander and won the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1942. The Southport School Library is named The Harley Stumm Centre in his honour.
