Dr Otto Nothling, Brisbane Grammar School, 1917

One of the School’s greatest ever sportsmen, Old Boy Dr Otto Nothling ’17 was born on 1 August 1900. He is one of only two Australian men to become a dual cricket and rugby international.

A brilliant rugby fullback, he was voted one of the 100 best Wallabies of all time. He replaced Don Bradman in the Australian cricket team in 1928 and became lifelong friends with the Australian sports legend. Nothling went on to become a medical doctor and served in WWII as a major in the Australian Army Medical Corps.
