He was awarded a gold medal in his Final Chemist Examination in 1929. Between 1938-40 he was President of Pharmaceutical Society of Queensland.
He was Chairman of Queensland Rowing Council, and Vice-President of Nudgee College Old Boys’ Association.
He was also an accomplished sportsman: Senior University; First XV., 1923-24; First XI., 1924-25 ; First IV. tennis ; First IV., life saving.
