Dr James Vincent Duhig, Nudgee College, 1902-1907

(1889–1963) Dr James Vincent Duhig was the first Professor of Pathology (1938-1947) at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane and helped to establish the School of Medicine at UQ. He was Founder of the Red Cross Blood Bank in Queensland.

He later became a strong advocate for vaccination. University of Queensland records note that James was actively involved in a campaign against diphtheria and prepared penicillin and anti-poliomyelitis serum in his laboratories when supplies were low
